On February 18, 2002 in Ruseel County, Alabama, a pair of robbers slashed a man’s throat, fatally shot his 12-year-old son and buried them in a shallow grave. The father, Forrest “Butch” Bowyer, somehow managed to dig his way out of the shallow grave even with his throat severely cut. The father survived and still lives in Alabama to this day. His 12 year old son Brett Bowyer did not survive.
